In 1988, upon returning from
an extensive trip around Asia and Australia, Gianluca Bernacchia
finally receives the long awaited go ahead to open his Studio.
In a couple of months his business is up and running and he
is snowed under with work, which he throws himself into with
his characteristic energy and enthusiasm, immediately receiving
positive feedback from his customers.

Never tiring of fuelling his creativity and experimenting
with new techniques he soon feels the need to travel and, giving
into his weakness for exploring, he visits many countries, convinced
that he can take from these new and far flung cultures something
different to offer the people who come to him for tattoos. In
fact he collects a huge quantity of material (books, photographs,
objects and equipment) first from Northern Europe and then from
Borneo, Singapore, Nepal, Indonesia and Thailand as well as
Central and South America, Alaska, Canada, the United States,
Australia, Micronesia and New Zealand.

| Using the materials he has collected, together with Marco
Leoni, Jurate Piacenti and other friends he organises the
Tattoo Expo 1995 (Bologna – Palazzo dei Congressi),
a photographic exhibition of the various cultures and traditions
of the art of tattooing throughout the world. The exhibition
attracts the interest of the media, making Gianluca Bernacchia
one of the professional tattooists that have effectively and
seriously contributed to the spread of the tattoo culture
in Italy.

Over the many years of its existence his Studio had played
host to many internationally famous artists, such as the above
mentioned Marco Leoni (Brazil) as well as Shotsie Gorman (U.S.A.),
Tony Anguiano (Hollywood), Johnny Two tums (Singapore) and many
others. The Studio is always busy and is continually looking
for new ideas and styles to offer. It also does permanent
make-up and carries out corrections for skin blemishes.
The studio is recognised by: The National
Tattoo Association U.S.A., T.A.I. Tatuatori Associati
Italiani, A.P.T.A., National Tattoo Association U.K., Amsterdam
Tattoo Foundation. All the material used
in studio is rigorously throwaway and sterilazed in autoclave
(vacum) - (aut.ASL PG 3722). |
